Travel essentials-July 2023

It’s so hard to pack, or maybe I should say it’s hard to not pack too much and the right things you need! I’ve traveled so many times, but each time I think of something small that would make travel easier.

My latest addition is a multi plug in adaptor. I’m not sure why resorts don’t have more plug ins by the bed, but generally there is only one and a couple USB ports.

I always take a large cup with a metal straw. To be environmentally friendly, the melt in your mouth paper straws are what’s offered at resorts, so if you like a straw, take your own.

A beach bag, sunscreen, power bank (if you use your phone a lot), cover-ups, swim suits, and several $1 bills for tipping.

On the plane I like to have my ear buds, a blanket/pillow, a book, Ibuprofen, and cell phone charger.

I like to make sure I have a credit card protector (RFID). I had my debit card info stolen in the airport and I had never even pulled it out of my purse! Lesson learned the hard way!

A jewelry holder. It’s nice to have your earrings, bracelets, and necklaces in a well organized jewelry holder so they don’t get tangled up with each other.

You won’t wear much other than a swimsuit and cover up during the day, so don’t plan for a “day” outfit every day. It will just use up precious space in your suitcase. Some evenings depending on the time of year can require a sweater, so throw one or two sweaters in.

Packing cubes have been my new friend as well. I always roll my clothes and the cubes keep your clothes organized too. There is nothing better than traveling with only a carry on. Why? Because you can skip the check in desk, save money and expedite getting to your resort. It takes some savvy packing though and why are mens clothes so bulky?? It doesn’t work well when my husband goes.

Writing this makes me ready to pack for my next destination…hmmm…where to next??
