Aruba
I try to always look at mishaps that happen to me while traveling as a good way to be able to inform travelers if it happens to them. But it can be super frustrating. This trip my husband forgot his meds. He tried to say it was my fault, but nope, it wasn’t….and he can’t go a week without his meds, so here is what we did. Always go to the concierge at the resort. That is what they are for is to help with any questions or issues that arise. I always tell clients try to work with the resort about an issue, but if they don’t listen, call me!!! I have ways of getting to the managers and we have BDM’s (business develop managers) for every resort chain. But back to the meds…..We had to first see a physician to get prescriptions. We walked a couple blocks to go see a Physician and paid about $80 USD to get the RX’s for his meds. Then we got a cab (another $20 or so) to go to a pharmacy where they didn’t have one particular med, and then went to another pharmacy (I felt like a druggie) to fill all the RX’s. We dish out more money for the meds and get back in our cab, who waited for us at each stop. He was sooooo very nice. He got a great tip and we headed to the beach and for a morning mimosa.
The rest of the trip was a lot of fun. I felt like I was in the US but with the most beautiful beaches and water I’ve ever seen. There are a few places I have made that statement about the water….. Aruba, St Lucia, Negril, and Bahamas. Don’t get me wrong, certain areas in Mexico and the Dominican Republic also have great water. You just have to be at the right resort.
But Aruba was easy to get around, safe, and several places to walk to. It doesn’t take long to get from the airport to the resorts, so that is a huge plus as well. You won’t regret flying to Aruba.
